Apprenticeships

Industrial commercial specialist

Practical vocational training (f/m/d)

The apprenticeship will provide you with deep insight into the different core divisions of our business, including accounting, human resources, procurement, sales, marketing and logistics.

Industrial commercial specialists can be found in the full range of commercial roles across the company. These professionals are called upon to interact with customers, suppliers, colleagues and senior management, and as such, are crucial to the company’s operations.

The apprenticeship lasts 3 years.

  • Strong grades at secondary/high-school level (Zeugnis der mittleren Reife)
  • A recognised qualification from a specialist technical college, or a pass in the German university entrance examination (Fachhochschulreife/Abitur)
  • Eagerness to learn
  • Commitment and self-reliance
  • Good English language skills
  • Strong communication skills, both speaking and writing

Industriekaufleute

Commercial specialist for office management 

Practical vocational training (f/m/d)

Commercial specialist for office management organise and coordinate the processes required to run offices efficiently, as well as managing the procedures associated with specific projects and contracts.

As an office manager, you will be expected to take on secretarial work and act as a personal assistant, making appointments, preparing for meetings and dealing with correspondence. Office managers excel at processing information, conducting research and finding relevant data and information for inclusion in presentations. They are also responsible for dealing with procurement procedures and providing support on staffing issues, as well as making use of accounting systems and other relevant financial tools.

The apprenticeship lasts 3 years.

 

  • Strong grades at secondary/high-school level (Zeugnis der mittleren Reife)
  • The ideal candidate should: Have graduated from a specialist commercial/business college
  • Have achieved good grades in German, English and Mathematics
  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrate a precise, reliable approach to their work

Kaufleute für Büromanagement

E-commerce specialist 

Practical vocational training (f/m/d)

E-commerce specialists focus on conducting business via the Internet, working at the intersection of procurement, marketing, logistics, accounting and IT. In this role, you will be involved in shaping our product range, procuring products and services and presenting our range in online shops and marketplaces, as well as on social media and blogs, with a view to persuading customers to make purchases. You will communicate with customers in a variety of different ways, including by email, webchat or on the phone, and will handle enquiries, complaints or requests for specific delivery arrangements.

You will also be expected to plan online marketing campaigns and initiatives focusing on specific products and target markets, organise the design and targeted placement of advertisements and assess the effectiveness of our advertising. Finally, you will also be tasked with analysing profit and loss accounts for commercial auditing purposes, as well as evaluating sales figures and relevant commercial processes.

The apprenticeship lasts 3 years.

E-Commerce

Bachelor of arts in business administration for industry

Practical vocational training (f/m/d)

We work together with the DHBW Lörrach vocational training academy to deliver this Bachelor of Arts degree for highly-motivated individuals early in their careers. The degree program is run as a dual-track of study, with 3-month theoretical blocks at DHBW complemented by practical placements at Franke Foodservice Systems GmbH. This course structure means that the students remain employed by Franke throughout their studies, and have plenty of opportunities to put their theoretical expertise into practice.

While working at Franke, students will be integrated into the everyday work of our individual departments, and will be given every chance to demonstrate their skills in stand-alone projects.

The apprenticeship lasts 3 years.

Betriebswirtschaft

Warehouse logistics specialist 

Practical vocational training (f/m/d)

This role involves a varied combination of warehouse and office-based work, ensuring that no two working days are ever quite the same. When it comes to planning and organising logistics, movement is key.

Receiving goods, checking quantities and the condition of deliveries and sorting and storing unloaded goods are all in a day’s work for a logistics specialist, as is researching potential suppliers, comparing tenders and ordering supplies and materials.

The apprenticeship lasts 3 years.

  • Strong grades at secondary/high-school level (Zeugnis der mittleren Reife)
  • Good organisational skills
  • Basic ICT skills
  • A precise, reliable approach to your work, and the ability to work on your own initiative
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Physical fitness

Part-time training, for example to qualify as a specialist logistician, delivered alongside the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Industrie und Handelskammer). You will also have the option of a dual-track of study.

 

Lagerlogistik

Tool mechanic 

Practical vocational training (f/m/d)

Do you have good manual skills? Are you technically minded, and considering working in metal processing? If so, our tool mechanic apprenticeship could be the perfect fit for you.

Tool mechanics produce standard tools, bending jigs or moulding machines for industrial use. They also manufacture and process metal parts, for example by drilling, milling and hammering them into shape, taking care to meet the exact specifications set out in the relevant technical drawings. You will be expected to work with measurement and testing devices designed for measuring tolerances as low as a few thousandths of a millimetre. Tool mechanics use CNC-controlled machinery to produce their tools, and programme the equipment themselves where appropriate.

The apprenticeship lasts three-and-a-half years.

  • Secondary/high-school level (Zeugnis der mittleren Reife) or specialist metalworking college leaving certificate
  • Strong grades in technology, physics and mathematics
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, along with a precise, reliable approach to work
  • Good manual skills and technical expertise
  • The ability to work as part of a team

Equipment manufacturer at work

IT systems integration specialist

Practical vocational training (f/m/d)

This apprenticeship is focused on networking hardware and software components to create and configure complex IT systems. System integration specialists use the latest advanced technology and diagnostic systems to handle any faults or errors in IT systems. At Franke, these professionals provide an in-house service, with daily duties ranging from training and advising users on the best device for their needs to dealing with any system or application-related problems that may arise.

The apprenticeship lasts 3 years.

  • A pass in the German university entrance examination (Fachhochschulreife/Abitur) or a vocational diploma (Berufskolleg II)
  • A strong interest in working in IT
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • A precise, reliable approach to working
  • Ability to grasp instructions quickly
  • Flexibility, approachability and the ability to work in a team

Part-time training, for example to become a certified technical administrator, working with the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Industrie und Handelskammer). You will also have the option of a dueal-track of study. Depending on the specific department in which you are working, you may also be able to access advanced professional training that is relevant to your specialism.

Hints to make your application stand out

 

Apply in good time

Don’t wait until you finish school to submit your application! Instead, aim to apply for an apprenticeship a full year before your training is due to start.

What to include in your covering letter

Make sure your covering letter is meaningful, interesting to read and well structured. Make sure there are no mistakes: you won’t get a second chance to make a good impression!

Tips for your interview

  • You should be confident, and try to be yourself. Pay attention and listen carefully
  • Be friendly, and show that you are motivated to work with us
  • Show an interest, be curious and ask good questions
  • Speak clearly and maintain eye contact

So, your certificates and application documents have made a good impression, and you have made it through the first hurdle. Now it’s time to get to know you a bit better. At Franke, we are not big fans of tests or assessment centres. Instead, we prefer to have a one-to-one conversation with you to see whether you might be a good fit for the company.
