We train around 80 apprentices in eight different disciplines at our Unterkulm site, and at our headquarters in Aarburg. We offer young talents future-oriented vocational training. The training takes place in various departments and partly in the internal Vocational Training Center for technical professions.

Apprenticeships

Swiss-Accredited IT Specialist – Systems Technology

Procedure basic vocational training

The core apprenticeship lasts four years. In addition to training within the company’s departments and at a specialist training college, you will also complete a number of external courses in Baden over the first two years of your apprenticeship.

 

Practical basic vocational training

A broad foundation of knowledge and skills is laid at the beginning of basic vocational training. During this phase of your training, you will be working primarily in User Support.

From the third year of your apprenticeship onwards, you will begin to build on this foundation by applying your skills and knowledge to specific projects. Here, the focus will be on workplace solutions, infrastructure and network. During this time you will make many new contacts in an international environment. Throughout the training period, cross-professional skills such as methodological, social and self-competence are promoted and further developed.

School qualifications

Strong grades at secondary/high school (Bezirksschule or Sekundarschule) level.

Candidate profile

You should be technically-minded and enjoy working with computers, as evidenced by experience gained prior to starting the apprenticeship.

You should enjoy mathematics and show a thorough, careful and precise approach to your work. You should also be reliable and prepared to take responsibility for projects. And be good at logical and analytical thinking.  Success in this role will require a strong commitment to continuous professional development.

Job prospects

Once you have completed your core apprenticeship and received your Federal Professional Diploma as an IT Specialist, you will be able to choose from a wide range of additional professional training, including:

− Studying for a full university degree in Information Technology
Studying for a Federal Baccalaureate at a specialist training college.

Commercial Specialist

Procedure basic vocational training

The core apprenticeship for commercial specialists lasts 3 years. Throughout you training, you will also attend external courses delivered by Swissmem.

We offer two separate commercial apprenticeships in Aarburg or Unterkulm, an extended apprenticeship (Track E), and an apprenticeship for the Federal Baccalaureate (Track M).

Practical basic vocational training

You will train in a range of different departments, including Customer Services, Sales Back Office, Logistics and Shipping, Export Sales and Finance and Accounting.  

Throughout the training period, cross-professional skills such as methodological, social and self-competence are promoted and further developed.

Strong grades at secondary/high school (Bezirksschule or Sekundarschule) level.

Candidate profile

You should:
- Be interested in your work, highly motivated and trustworthy
Have a joined-up approach and an ability to grasp complex roles quickly
Enjoy foreign languages and communicating with other people
Show a strong focus on customers
–Demonstrate a reliable and committed approach
– Be articulate, both when speaking and writing
– Have a flair for working with computers
– Be able to touch-type

Job prospects

Once you have completed your core apprenticeship and received your Federal Professional Diploma as a Commercial Specialist, you will be able to choose from a wide range of additional professional training opportunities, including:

- Studying for a degree in sales management
– Training as a management assistant
– Training as an accredited financial and accounting specialist
Studying for a Federal Baccalaureate at a specialist training college.

Logistics Specialist

Basic vocational training

The core apprenticeship for logistics specialists lasts three years "Lager" culminating in a qualification procedure. Over the course of your training, you will also attend a number of external courses provided by the Swiss industry association SVBL.  

Practical vocational training

Your training will focus on areas including receipt of goods, warehousing, preparing goods for shipping within Switzerland and for export, and shipping

Year 1: Acquiring core skills and expertise
Year 1: Building on fundamental skills and expertise
Year 1: Consolidating learning and preparing for the qualification procedure

 

Throughout the training period, cross-professional skills such as methodological, social and self-competence are promoted and further developed.

Logistician at work

School qualifications

Strong grades at secondary/high-school level.

Candidate profile

Successful candidates will be highly-motivated and committed team players who can be relied upon to take responsibility. They should be able to work independently, have a friendly manner, and show a high level of manual dexterity.

Once you have completed your core apprenticeship and received your Federal Diploma, you will be able to choose from a wide range of additional professional training opportunities, including:

-– Studying for a degree in Logistics
– Becoming an accredited TS Logistics Specialist
–Studying for a Federal Baccalaureate at a specialist training college

Design engineer

Proceduere basic covational training

The core apprenticeship lasts four years, comprising two years of basic training (followed by a preliminary examination) and two years of additional and/ or specialist training in Aarburg or Unterkulm. The apprenticeship concludes with an Individual Practical Assessment  

Practical basic vocational training

Your apprenticeship will be delivered at our in-house training center, where you will work together with other specialists to develop and design components and assemblies for coffee machines, domestic kitchen systems, and tools and appliances for production. You will also dedicate your time to contract work, specification sheets and/ or sections of individual projects, drafting manufacturing and inspection documentation, and gathering necessary production data. Throughout the training period, cross-professional skills such as methodological, social and self-competence are promoted and further developed.

Strong grades at secondary/high school level.

Candidate profile

You should be technically-minded and enjoy working with computers. You should enjoy arithmetic, algebra,   geometry, technical drawing and physics, and take a thorough, careful and precise approach to your work. You should also be reliable and prepared to take responsibility for projects, and be skilled at picturing how designs will look and thinking analytically.

Once you have completed your core apprenticeship and received your Federal Professional Diploma, you will be able to choose from a wide range of professional development opportunities, including:

– Becoming an operations specialist
– Becoming a technical sales specialist
– Becoming a machine engineer
– Studying for a Federal Baccalaureate at a specialist technical college

Machinist

 

Proceduere basic covational training

The core apprenticeship lasts four years, comprising two years of basic training (followed by a preliminary examination) and two years of additional and/ or specialist training in Aarburg or Unterkulm. The apprenticeship concludes with an Individual Practical Assessment  

Practical basic vocational training

Your apprenticeship will be delivered at our in-house training center, The curriculum will focus on a number of exciting machining processes, and feature extensive use of CNC machinery, as well as measurement, inspection, installation and commissioning work. Your specialist training will be delivered in various departments within the company, broadening and developing your skills and expertise. Throughout the training period, cross-professional skills such as methodological, social and self-competence are promoted and further developed.

Mechanic at work

School qualifications

Strong grades at secondary/high school level.

Candidate profile

You have great interest in technical contexts and the processing of metals. You can imagine constructions spatially, work accurately, thoroughly, carefully and are very reliable. You also have perseverance, patience and manual dexterity.

Job prospects

Once you have completed your training as a specialist machinist, there will be a wide choice of potential jobs and professional development opportunities open to you, including:

– Becoming a process specialist
- Qualifying as a master industrial engineer
– Becoming a machine technician
–Becoming a federally-accredited machine engineer
–   Studying for a Federal Baccalaureate at a specialist training college

Plant engineer:in

Proceduere basic covational training

The core apprenticeship lasts four years, comprising two years of basic training (followed by a preliminary examination) and two years of additional and/ or specialist training in Aarburg or Unterkulm. The apprenticeship concludes with an individual project.  

Practical basic vocational training

Your apprenticeship will be delivered at our in-house training center, Your training will focus on technical skills such as setting, pressing, bending, shaping, welding, grinding and mounting. This will be followed by specialist training within the company, as part of which you will build on your knowledge and skills by working on real-life contracts and projects. Throughout the training period, cross-professional skills such as methodological, social and self-competence are promoted and further developed.

School qualifications

Strong grades at secondary/high school level.

Candidate profile

You have a great interest in technical contexts and very good spatial imagination, work accurately, thoroughly and carefully. You will need stamina and patience, as well as an interest in metalworking and working with machinery. You should also possess high levels of manual dexterity and enjoy working with metals.

Once you have completed your apprenticeship and received your Federal Diploma as an equipment engineer, you will be able to choose from a wide range of professional development opportunities, including:

– Becoming an operations specialist
– Becoming an accredited master industrial engineer

Plant operator

Basic vocational training

The core apprenticeship lasts three years, .  and will be complemented throughout your training by a range of external courses. Your training will be delivered in various departments within the company, encompassing a wide range of equipment. From the second year onwards, you will be working in shifts nbsp;

Practical vocational training

You learn your professional skills both on single machines and on highly complex production machinery featuring robotic parts. You will also be expected to work at an external company for three months as part of an apprentice exchange program.  Throughout the training period, cross-professional skills such as methodological, social and self-competence are promoted and further developed.

Operator at work

School requirements

Strong grades at secondary/high school level.

Candidate profile

You should enjoy technology and working with manufacturing equipment. Your ability to work in a team and your openness are just as important as your resilience, stress resistance and reliability. You must be prepared to work shifts.

Job prospects

Once you have completed your core apprenticeship and received your Federal Diploma as a plant operator, you will be able to choose from a wide range of professional development opportunities, including:

– Training as master industrial engineer
– Becoming an automation specialist
– Becoming a process specialist
–Becoming a technician
– Becoming a foreman or head of department or production
– Completing a degree at a specialist training college.

Services specialist

 

Procedure basic vocational training

Your core apprenticeship lasts three years, .  and will be complemented throughout your training by a range of external courses in Sursee.

Practical vocational training

You will develop professional experience in areas including:

– Building and estate maintenance and cleaning
– Maintenance and repairs
– The use and maintenance of in-house appliances

Throughout the training period, cross-professional skills such as methodological, social and self-competence are promoted and further developed.

 

Facility maintenance

School qualifications

Strong grades at secondary/high school level.

Candidate profile

You should enjoy practical work (including in a technical environment) and show high levels of manual dexterity, as well as stamina, patience, dependability and physical fitness. You should also enjoy working as part of a team and have a good sense of humor, especially when the going gets tough.

Job prospects

Once you have completed your apprenticeship and received your Federal Diploma as a services specialist, you will be able to choose from a range of professional development opportunities, including:

– Becoming an accredited caretaker
Qualifying as a head of Facilities Management
, Completing an accredited Bachelor of Science Degree in Facilities Management
– Studying for a degree at a specialist training college.
